European Soccer Championship, Aperitifs, Italian Beer, Salt, and Homemade Lemon Dish Soap

European Soccer Championship 2012 – Every 4 years the very best soccer teams in Europe hold their own tournament to determine the national champion of Europe.  And to many in the soccer community the Euro Soccer Championship eclipses the Word Cup as the most important soccer event on the plant.  Follow the Azzuri in the 2012 European soccer Championship!

Food and Wine – America doesn’t do the aperitif and it’s a damn shame.  Food and Wine suggests “a nip of Dubonnet, a sip of Campari, a little Lillet–to understand the importance of the aperitif”.

La Cucina Italiana – The Italian food magazine La Cucina Italiana suggests there’s a beer renaissance taking place on the peninsula and we sure hope it’s there to stay!  Forza birra Italiana!

NY Times – Here’s an a priori statement for you:  good food cannot exist without salt. And I’m sure glad our friend and contributor Dr. K alerted us to the following NY Times opinion piece by Gary Taubes (author of “Why We Get Fat”).

Slow Food – We’ve always appreciated what the Slow Food movement has done, first in Europe, and now in the United States. The Slow Food web site features a great method for making homemade, lemon based, dishwasher soap.
