Soccer, Tennis, Italian Food, and Summer Living

Recently we’ve been swept up by the best sport competitions on the planet, including the ongoing  European Soccer Championship.  We’ve been following the Azzurri (translated as the blue shirts or color of the sky) otherwise known as the Italian national soccer team.  The European Soccer Championship, held every four years, is a qualifying tournament comprised of the best national teams in Europe.   Italy recently advanced past the group stage and now faces England in the Quarterfinals on Sunday, June 24th in Kiev, Ukraine.

We also enjoyed the French Open during the month of May (one of the four “Grand Slam” tennis tournaments and played on red clay) and followed our favorite player Roger Federer up until the semifinals where he lost in straight sets to Novak Djokovic.  We’re now looking forward to the grass court Grand Slam tournament known as Wimbledon (and played in England during June and early July).

In mid May the UEFA Champions League culminated with Chelsea beating  Bayern Munich in the Final.  The Champions League tournament is a year long affair with the best teams from each European soccer league (e.g., Serie A in Italy, Primera Liga in Spain, Premier League in England,  Bundesliga in Germany, etc.) competing for the title of “best club team.”

In between the exciting global sport competitions we’ve been cooking and living life and wanted to share some Italian food photos with our wonderful fans!

  1. FYI, Kyiv isn’t in Poland, it’s the capital of Ukraine. Just letting you know!
